Ascent of Snowdon (1,085 m) 29. December 2000

Snowdon seen across Llyn Llydaw

A winter walk with Steve C, Neil and Martin. This was the only day in the Christmas break when we were all free, so we grabbed the opportunity for a bit of the white stuff. After an unusually mild December, it had snowed heavily a couple of days beforehand, and sharp overnight frosts had kept things in excellent winter "nick". We arrived at the Pen-y-pass car park later than planned and decided on the easy option of the Miners' Track to give us the best chance of the summit.

It was cold!

We bumped into three climbers from the North West Face, who were descending the track having just made a daring ascent of Parsley Fern Gully on the north face of Crib y Ddysgl. John, Adrian and Marek pose in front of Snowdon's vast east face. Sadly, I forgot that I was carrying a piece of Mrs P's famous cake, so we missed out on the usual Youarsey ceremony
