Some Pictures from the URC Triothon to Stanage Popular End
Thursday 28. July

Update 29. July 2011

Three of the URC / Rockchat posse enjoyed a lovely bit of bimbling at the (ever-) Popular End on Thursday, some fine routes and a fun day. The crag was bone dry, and there were enough people about to be sociable, but no crowds.
Photos from Roger D.

John led Black Hawk Traverse Left (18m, VDiff, ***) and Robin Hood's Right Hand Buttress Direct (22m, HS 4a, ***)
Steve led Anatomy (12m, VDiff), Mantelpiece Crack (8m, Diff 4a) and Small Crack (8m, VDiff, *)
Roger was happy to second, and take photos

John leading Black Hawk Traverse Left (18m, VDiff, ***) having made a technical alternative to the Bishop's Stride

"Rope drag, what rope drag?"

Steve seconding...

...with a more thuggish approach to the Stride...

...and another big stride

Steve setting out on Anatomy (12m, VDiff) a nice re-introduction to leading after nearly two years

Movin' On Up...

...and heading for the exit

John leading Robin Hood's Right Hand Buttress Direct (22m, HS 4a, ***)

Under the awkward roof...

...and out onto the nose

Getting established in the long continuation crack...

...and jamming on up

Nearly there...

..."Safe!"

Steve following on RHRHBD...

"Awkward for the tall"

If you don't like to see horrible kneeling manoeuvres, look away now

...it gets worse

If in doubt, chalk up

"No, your left"

Thanks to John & Roger for a Grand Day Out
