Welcome to Acton Bridge Women's Institute

ACTON BRIDGE WI
Meeting held 11. September 2007

Sue Williams, the President, opened the meeting by welcoming some new members. The train trip to Liverpool had been a great success. Most people had managed to visit St George's Hall, and the Walker Art Gallery as well as attend the guided tour of the Adelphi Hotel. Everyone enjoyed the day so much it was proposed that we should go to Liverpool again next year.

There is to be a Soup & Sandwich Lunch on Saturday 13 October in the Parish Rooms, open to all villagers. Pilates classes are starting again soon. Another walk has been arranged and there are plans to go to the ballet in Manchester later in the season.

Chris Turton gave a comprehensive report on the PAL meeting about Nanotechnology, and members who had signed up for the half-yearly Council Meeting to hear Ben Fogle speak, were given their tickets.

The speaker/demonstrator, Irene Sayle, from Michelle Ashley in Weaverham asked for a volunteer to have a manicure. A member, whose birthday it was, volunteered and enjoyed the hand massage with moisturising creams. Many different beauty treatments are available at the centre. Judith Pardoe gave the vote of thanks. Tasty refreshments were provided by Veronica and Wendy. Valerie Mitchell won the raffle.

The next meeting is on Tuesday 9 October when Judy Townsend's talk is entitled " My life as a Bin Baby." Visitors are always welcome.
